The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 寡淡无趣平庸，是温暖的小品，但人物的立体感和真实感不是靠几句日常俏皮话和随手讲一件随手讲一件多年前的琐事就能展现出来的。想讲的内容有些多，父亲缺失、自我价值和身份寻找、单身母亲及她的家庭问题等等，但没一个讲透哪怕只是把情绪和转变说明白了，也不是父亲被抓、耶鲁毕业，这些问题就结局了。表现得太过于流水账，舅舅和酒吧又太过于理想化，确实不知道到底想讲啥。只能说画面质感还算不错，实在令人失望。

美式乡村家庭戏，味如嚼蜡，不烂也太寻常，克鲁尼近几年不太行。
难得的国产悬疑科幻，雷导的处女作就给人不一样的东西，虽然还不是很成熟。不过已经要被好莱坞翻拍了，恭喜雷神吧

本来是想看看函馆的美景，结果一直天色昏暗，一如人物的内心，缓缓地一点一点压抑下去。努力地平凡地过着每一天，但崩溃会突然悄无声息地到来，无法抵抗。身边的人也无法理解。生病的人无暇顾及身边亲人的感受，亲人会自责觉得是自己的错，其实谁都没有错，但是最终没人能承受这种痛苦。P.S.那个滑板少年的技术好厉害。再P.S.都病成这样了为什么不避孕。
取景我喜欢，主角们是妹子就更好了，剧情可以说没有剧情
情绪大过天。比起东出昌大更喜欢奈绪了，她身上有一种坚定又沉静的信念感
女主一脸懵逼就能编剧附体直接剧透提出平行空间，瞬间就让后面内容变得无趣了。
最后炸裂，响起的呼吸机停止声，女的死了，在另一个平行世界里，大家都活的好好的，一层又一层，只是不知道还是不是最初的世界。
来看东出昌大跑步？节奏太慢了 近代的日本电影走下坡得厉害啊…….好俗套…

大本表演牛了。片子在很多时候都是一笔带过，不够深入。
这是电影应有的样子之一，这是人类应有的故事之一。
伯德小姐，JR先生。复古老爷车，旧式保龄球。平淡而又感人的人生日志。（其实uncle的形象有点过于完美了）
探讨的似乎是司空见惯的主题 抑郁症和对家庭生活的影响 但是影片非常克制的节奏和有意避开大量使用的特写镜头使得影片传达了一种不可思议的情绪 那种痛苦和压抑都历历在目 栩栩如生 学到了一种新的拍摄思路。（东出昌大真的太适合演这种窝囊废一样的角色了
感觉像是《我们这一天》的电影版，既不精彩，也不无聊的平淡人生成长故事。
小成本电影，却还算高概念，实属不易了

非常好。同样是一个生命不能承受之轻的故事，喜欢镜头里轻轻浅浅的沉默。静谧的观影过程令人回到了《幻之光》。
