The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 电影结束后的字幕显现出来时，才发现电影结束的很利落。后面仔细想想其实并不是这样，导演对于这件事的看法是在电影接近尾声时，由会议记录员党卫军军官讲述运用毒气杀人的细节时将参加会议的每一个人都有一个特写镜头。
至今没想明白为什么纳粹对犹太人问题如此耿耿于怀？根源难道真的是希特勒本人对犹太的深恶痛绝吗？可是这么病态的想法，为什么在1920s还能够有如此多的受众？就算普通民众容易忽悠，但这些纳粹高层不乏高级知识分子啊。难道他们对犹太人的最终解决，更多是在迎合元首的vision吗？二战1942年德国每况愈下，把这些解决犹太人的人力物力投入到战场上，不好吗？但转而又想，这场战争本来就建立在反犹基础上。
最后那段儿让我想到了前些时候看的《来自纳粹地狱的报告》，工业化流水线杀人，把人当做资源去采掘，才是真正可怕的地方
一场令人毛骨悚然的会议。因为是历史，观众早已知道结局，甚至过程。作为电影，失去了最基本的冲突性元素，显得尤为平淡。
总而言之觉得很可惜的一个剧本。

拍的很像纪录片，认真严谨的开一场会议，为了清除上千万人，人命如蝼蚁
不寒而栗，一群道貌岸然的“优质人”在90分钟内制定出清晰的犹太人种族屠杀计划，人性的邪恶在他们心中泛滥成灾，那些个“专家”、“博士”趋炎附势，满嘴仁义道德讲究法律的“清理”异族，完全丧失自己的是非观，600万犹太人就这样死在你们屠刀下。
会议里有阿谀奉承也有针锋相对的各种对话，时间不知不觉就过去了
这部真的不算好，人物都跟有什么大病一样。。。怀念之前的剧场版
ok的一部电影，剧情还算紧凑，就整体结构黑星，但是连贯性可以再强一点，演员演技在线，挺好的。
重现了二战期间纳粹有组织有计划杀戮犹太人的那场会议，流氓不可怕，有组织有文化的流氓集团太可怕…
世界最大三次种族灭绝：1、屠杀美洲原住民；2、贩卖黑奴；3、德国最终解决犹太人。其他都是小巫见大巫。
博尔赫斯说，这世上如果有天堂，一定是图书馆的模样。我认为，这世上如果有过地狱，那就是奥斯维辛、索比堡……等集中营。

儿童片成人向，有些尴尬就是成人已经不需要这种初级成长教育，真正的幼儿又不太适合小新色胚这一方面的风格，100分钟的片长看着着实不太容易入戏。
一次关于“human are just number”的清零行动会议
主办方其实早就已经计划好灭绝犹太人的一系列具体措施了，但要在各路高官面前争取全员通过。室内剧，全场对白，看着真累，结尾演职员字幕无声滑过，大屠杀即将开始。
