The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 牛津公爵内劲到处，只闻得嗤啦一声，VC平滑的边缘割破了反派的红领巾，反派凄厉一声惨叫，跌落悬崖之下，顷刻摔得粉身碎骨，沦为一滩肉泥。第一次在电影里看到VC被拿来当武器，RF穿了RFC制式飞行皮夹克，欧文诗好评，Black Watch那段实在是……以及，这电影黑得最狠的明明是英国自己，次之美国。可能大家看的不是同一个电影吧……
这个剧最大的反转竟然是不听话的儿子非要上前线然后被自己人打死，帅儿子一颗星帅爸爸一颗星特效实在是无语，不是说是五毛而是感觉在用一个一百万的榨汁机捣蒜，剧情实在鬼扯淡。竟然有人因为我的低分评价而跑来骂我。也是服气了……现在网络还是可以不负责任说任何话。这样的时代会结束的，相信在不久的将来

英国人拍戏比美国人还是有点文化的，把一堆历史梗串起来，还穿插探讨了战争片的拍法。用心了。在美国电影绝大多数沦为样板戏和廉价玩笑的今天，给个5星支持。
一个场景警察局，看似复杂实则简单的人物关系，简单情节故弄玄虚复杂化。长得不帅还要装酷，恶心到人了。
作为动作片，前半部分太话唠，后半部分不够精彩，先是两个坏人，一个外来通缉犯，一个警察内部叛徒，基本团灭警察局的警察，后来还要猜两个犯人男主哪一个也是坏人，结尾还有一个送人头的女龙套，一共四个坏人搞这么半天，比不上有压迫感敌人特别多的血溅十三号警署，巴特勒终于不再接着演陷落系列了。
戏谑历史的部分真的很抓马，不过战场那段的视听和调度还可以，英国人拍商业爆米花起码还有对反战的思考，拉叔一把年纪挑战各种高难动作戏真是不容易。
确实高开低走，结局意义不明，女主是要追击？黑化？还是为续集做铺垫？

纵观全片，也就战争那段有点看头，有那么一丢丢《1917》的味道。
「Do you remember why King Arthur and his knights had a round table? Because it meant that all men were equal. It's important that people born into privilege lead by example.」「I do not accept your resignation. But... I will accept a very strong cup of tea.」
有点科恩兄弟的风格 是部爽片 同时又是一部不可能在某国拍出来的电影
最后的动作戏还挺好的，战狼里那个伙计说没就没了

1.前半段拖沓冗长昏昏欲睡，文戏过多铺陈过度，节奏扁平毫无亮点。全程无武戏，所谓动作戏的动作就是开枪。2.为了凹剧情把公安系统警力实实在在黑了一把。3.脸谱化的疯癫话唠反派毫无特色略显讨嫌。4.谁看了不想问一句女主持久度如此良好的眼线笔是搁哪儿买的。5.两男主都是我的心头好，我愿称之为两只行走的男性荷尔蒙。可惜没有近身打戏，真真浪费了两个大好身躯。6.后半段的氛围营造还是不错的，血腥暴力直白刺激。7.杰拉德虐待叛徒警察的场面竟然透露出一种可可爱爱，又让他皮了一把。8.本片称之为《警局陷落》真是再合适不过了，某叔的陷落体质再次实锤。

爽片，骗子和杀手的剧情设定不错，动作戏也好看，感觉差一口气，可能张力不够，应该可以拍的更好看。
